Position Paper - Albania - 2009 - International Atomic Energy Agency -
Safeguards for every nation that have access to nuclear power and energy is important to ensure global safety and not nuclear conflict.
Regarding the application of IAEA Safeguards in the Middle East the nation of Albania supports the position of the European Union (Sept. 09 Conference) that nuclear safeguards should be placed in all nations. Safeguards are not hindrances on a nation’s progress in nuclear technology but they are more so an insurance that a nation will use nuclear power for peace and not conflict. Albania encourages particular nations of the Middle East, Iran and Syria, to be more frank with their intentions of nuclear power. The European Union and Albania deplore Iran’s secrecy and vagueness regarding their Nuclear Policy. This vagueness does not arouse Albania's confidence that Iran will use it's nuclear power for peaceful purposes.
At this conference Albania hopes that the nations of the Middle East will agree to safeguards making a global contribution to nuclear safety and peace.

We are pleased to announce that CIMUN is now accepting staff applications for our 2010 conference. Last year, CIMUN attracted 87 staff members from 26 different universities around the world, and featured a staff-to-delegate ratio of 7 to 1, among the lowest of any major conference.
