Section 1: Introduction

Rule 1.1: Scope
The rules of procedure contained in this handbook are the official rules of procedure of the Chicago International Model United Nations (CIMUN). They are self-sufficient, except for modifications provided by the Secretariat, and will be considered adopted in advance of the session. No other rules are applicable for all delegates at CIMUN.
 
Rule 1.2: Model United Nations Development Organization, Inc.
CIMUN is a program of the Model United Nations Development Organization, Inc. (MUNDO), an educational non-profit organization. MUNDO is managed by a Board of Directors.
 
Rule 1.3: Language
English will be the official working language in committees at CIMUN. All speeches and documents presented in another language will be ruled out of order unless it is accompanied by an written English translation.
 
Rule 1.4: Sessions
The commencement and adjournment of the session each year shall be declared by the Secretary-General. All general sessions of meetings shall be held in public unless it is decided otherwise by the committee, using a Motion for a Closed Session (see Rule 4.21).

Registration for the 2010 conference is now open. Schools that register during our priority registration period receive special discounted rates, and are eligible to enter our upcoming country/committee lottery. If you have any questions about registering for CIMUN, please contact us.

Staff Applications Open

April 1, 2010

We are pleased to announce that CIMUN is now accepting staff applications for our 2010 conference. Last year, CIMUN attracted 87 staff members from 26 different universities around the world, and featured a staff-to-delegate ratio of 7 to 1, among the lowest of any major conference.
